Hunter Scott has recently established a dedicated division concentrating upon the highly specialised area of Law Costs Drafting and Negotiating.  This move was as a result of demand from our clients that require a recruitment business that understands that the in-house law costs environment is about contributing to the success and profitability of a law firm, instead of merely supporting it.

First and foremost, since 2003 Hunter Scott has been a recruitment business placing lawyers at all levels and across all specialisations into practices throughout the UK.  Fee earning recruitment is our business and as such, our approach to law costs drafting and negotiating is different to that of many of our competitors.  In addition to experienced draftsmen, many of our candidates are fully qualified practice solicitors that transfer their skills into those of a law costs draftsman, for instance.  This is especially beneficial as the solicitor already has both the mindset of a fee earner and the technical ability to draft/negotiate.  A fully qualified practice solicitor sees the ‘bigger picture’ of their valuable contribution to the firm and has been trained to work in a target and profitability-driven way.

We also work with external law costs consultancies and the principle is still the same.  We look for commercial awareness within our candidates as well as the technical ability that they possess.
